Renewal due Friday, windscreen replaced today

Hi I'm with Swiftcover
Just had a windscreen replaced and need to renew my insurance in the next few days.
I have a renewal quote which is coming up cheapest at the moment with Swiftcover.
In my insurance it says it will freeze my NCD when I have a glass repair, hence I'll still have 4 and not 5 (is this right?)
So should I accept my renewal price still coming up with 5 years (understanding they might ask me for more a higher premium
Or renew with 4 year quote thus affecting price by about £100
Or try another insurer but 4 or 5 years?
Anyone hand experience with swiftcover?

This will always happen when such a claim is put in, after the renewal has already been issued. If you phone them to renew and they notice the claim, they might keep the NCD at 4 years. If the glass claim was dealt with directly with autoglass or whoever, the chances are that Swift might not know about it, until after the renewal. So you might get away with renewing with 5 years still in tact. I don't know whether Swift would come back to you later.
You could try to obtain Insurance elsewhere with the 5 years NCD on the renewal notice, as long as you declare the windscreen claim.
Nb. I understand reading another posters replies, that Swift do freeze the NCD at the next renewal, if you have a glass claimThe comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
And if you read your renewal notice you will probably see that you have to notify them of any material facts, which a windscreen claim will be. Presumably you are claiming under your policy for this?
If the windscreen has to be replaced because of a maintenance issue and you are paying for it yourself then I believe this is a different scenario.
If you are initiating a claim under the policy, then you need to advise the insurers before renewal rather than trying to get away with paying less and hoping they don't notice. I know nothing about Swift cover but I didn't lose any bonus when I claimed for a windscreen under my own policy as I think this is treated differently to an accidental damage claim. (Happy to be corrected though as a while ago)!0 -
I've claimed for a replacement windscreen through my insurance before and not had my NCD affected in any way.
Swift's own website says...
"With windscreen cover, we will pay to repair or replace broken glass in your car's windscreen or windows, through our approved supplier Auto Windscreens. You can make a claim without affecting your No Claims Discount and, if the glass can be repaired by them, it won't cost you a penny. "
Mind you, if your policy says something else, I suspect that would take precedence.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Read the policy T&C's. Whilst it doesn't affect your _current_ NCD, it will affect your future NCD accrual, as Swiftcover customer surrender their right for their years addition of NCD if they make a claim for their windscreen.0
