can anyone tell me if this is able to be fixed?
i have an asus laptop that's about 2 years old and about 6 months ago the power box (sorry i'm not technical at all) on the charger stopped working. since then i've had to buy about 5 new chargers as this bit that actually connects into the laptop seems to overheat and melt/soften the plastic around it. sometimes i can't pull the charger out. then eventually it will only charge the laptop when it's in a certain position until it gives up the ghost completely and it's time to buy a new one. is it worth just buying a new laptop?
thanks

I take it you're buying cheap ones off Ebay? Please don't - they're carp and do exactly what you're seeing. Get a proper replacement from Asus. They're dearer but they work. Also you may find that because of your constant tugging at the plug that the socket has come loose from the mainboard and needs resoldering. There's a company on Ebay that used to advertise they did it for £35 plus return postage costs.0

it could be the internal jack on the laptop. Its usually about £50-£60 to install0
