IS while workin

Im currently on income support and have applied for a part time job.

The hours are 15 per week so i did some calculations on entitledto.co.uk and according to this i would still be entitled to income support, surely this must be a mistake? the take home wages are not great but obviously i would still get HB and WTC so really cant see this being correct.

Anyone know if this is right or not?

Thanks Zoe

It depends how much money you earn. There is a disregard per week of £5 - £20 depending on your circumstances.

How much will you be earning? Do you have any disabilities? If there is no one else working in the household you will not receive WTC for 15 hours, but you would receive CTC.

Its 15 hours per week at minimum wage so roughly £93 per week.

Im the only adult in the house and have 1 child.

IIRC you get to keep the first £20 per week of wages without it affecting your IS, after that it's £1 for £1. You really would be far better off getting that one extra hour a week so you can claim working tax credits.

You really should put your figures through entitled to and actually see how much you are loosing by not working that extra hour.
