Tesco have just given me over £20 for nothing

Odd one this. I purchased ink from Tesco Extra online when they were doing the offer on 3 for 2 but with lots of points as well. The ink came to just under the £50 so I bought some photopaper to go over the £50 to get another 500 points.

When I picked up the ink from Tesco's I expected a receipt but was told that they didn't issue them and my order number was my receipt.

Anyway I put the first ink in my machine at the weekend and it basically flooded and blocked my inkjet. Took me around an hour to clean.

Went back to Tesco yesterday to return all the ink as I wasn't willing to go through that again. Took a printout (after much cleaning) but this doesn't list the price I paid.

Tesco happy to have the ink returned, it was prior to a month anyway and they offer a no quibble return anyway. Their problem was they only had the current price of the ink and couldn't bring up the price I paid. I had no memory of the individual price of the ink but I did know that the total price was just under £50.

Took three of them 10 minutes to work out what to do. Told me it wasn't my fault as they don't give a receipt for online orders and I can't get one from the PC. In the end all they told me they could do was to issue me with a refund for £73. Oddly I felt very guilty about this as if I was conning them. Got over that though and took the money.

Good for you- I'm sure if Tesco ever overcharged you they wouldn't feel guilty about it! I once gave back to a shop money I was given by mistake, and they treated me like a criminal for it. If it ever happens again I'll keep that money and spend it!

    Every little helps eh? ;)
