East coast wifi - no longer free

The email I received stated :-
"To help us to deliver the best possible Wi-Fi service, we're introducing a payment system for Standard Class passengers. The first 15 minutes of use is free, but if you need longer you'll pay £4.95 for 60 minutes or £9.95 for a full 24 hours. More information about the payment system can be found here. "
So if on a long Scotland to London trip I guess it would cost £9.95 each trip if not on the same day.0 -
This was always going to happen when the route was nationalised. EC know that the majority of their customers (or at least the ones who use WiFi) are business travellers who will claim the cost back on expenses, so it is an easy revenue stream for them. In the end, all it does is bring EC in line with the few other TOCs that actually offer WiFi.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Yes ... but isn't the issue of bandwidth - EC want to force of those users who are downloading video/games etc .... but keep their 1st class paying passengers happy.

So many peeps with smartphones all listening to Spotify/Napster/Last.fm on the wi-fi rather than hit their 3G tariffs that it was getting impossible to get any service when working.0
