That is not a laptop, it is a netbook.

If you want to run Win 7 on one of those then you will definately want to upgrade the RAM to 2GB, and if you are like me and want it to do anything today then you will want to swap the HDD out for an SSD instead.
Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.
  • is it same as this one?,bit cheaper and free delivery if you don't mind getting it taking up to 5 working days

Sorry to be so dim, but what is the difference between a netbook and a laptop?

    Thanks for all the replies.

Speed, performance, cost, screen size (and therefore resolution), lack of CD/DVD drive, and probably a few other things I can't be !!!!!d to think of.

Why would you want to swap a HDD for a SSD, and what's the difference between them both? Sorry, another relative newbie :o
  • Hi,
My mum, dad and me all have Acer Aspire netbooks of different specification from Tesco Direct. They run windows XP and are all excellent. We have had them since just after Christmas 2009.

They are good if you just want to use the internet, check emails and do a few documents on but if you intend on using it for loads of downloads or using it as a main computer, I would say that you are probably be better with a laptop. They are easier to look at all day cos they have a bigger screen and they have the CD/DVD drive so that you can load software easier, play dvd/cds, save data to disk etc.

Beware of buying electrical goods from Tesco.
I tried to return a faulty item to the store where I bought it. They will not accept it after 28 days. You have to ring an 08 number and go through a lengthy process which in my case involved taking photographs and emailing them. The "appointment" for the collection of the item was from 9.00am to 6.00pm which spoiled that day . The return was made on a similar basis.
I was very displeased with my experience and would now never buy any electrical item from Tesco.
    Forgotten but not gone.
