Hi Guys,
Totally flabbergasted at the price of ink for my old, rickety epson so have decided to splash out on a new printer, some of the ones on sale in Tesco are not much more than the cost of the ink! I don't really use it much for photos, just mainly for documents, and my main requirements are for a scanner, wireless and, most importantly cheap replacement cartridges. Any advice gratefully received, thanks in advance.

The most important thing is to work out how you're going to refill the printer with ink. Original cartridges? Chipped non-originals? Un-chipped non-originals that need to be used with a chip-resetter? Your options will depend on the cartridges you need. Just do a quick search on eBay to see if there's a plentiful supply of cheap cartridges you can use.
Personally, I bought a chip-resetter for £15, and buy cheap un-chipped cartridges for about £1.50 each (compared to the official Canon ones that cost £15 to £20 each).
Also, you say that the printer must be wireless. You could just plug the printer in to an existing PC that has a network connection (wired or wireless) and share it over the network that way (although the attached PC would need to be on for you to use the printer). Not sure if this is an option, but you'll have a much bigger range of printers to choose from and it'll be a bit cheaper too...0 -
i usually go for epson as the compatible cartridges are available in a multitude of places , normally around £10 for 2 colour and 2 black.
hope this helps0 -
Thanks for the advice, picked up a canon printer on offer in Tesco yesterday (after checking out the price of the inks). Not wireless, but I think it can connect via a (separate) bluetooth adaptor, just got to get it set up now! The difference in price between the one bought and the wireless equivalent was about £80 so I decided to forego the wifi on this occasion. Thanks again.0

You might regret buying from Tesco if it needs a repair . After 28 days you can't take it back to the store. You have to go through a very long and irritating routine . I won't buy any more electrical goods from Tesco .Forgotten but not gone.0
