Buyer who claims a label is wrong? My feedback policy opinions

I've got a buyer complaining that a boys coat made by a big brand aged 10yrs is more like an age 7. They are saying they think the label is wrong. How would you respond to this? At the end of the day it's too small so send it back for a refund why are they trying to blame me/or the manufactuer for it being too small?

I'm begining to wonder if my refund policy has a part to play in this it currently reads similar to 'i will refund return costs on a mis-described item' is it my own fault that any buyers wishing to return are trying to find fault so they can get me to pay for return postage? Should i take that bit out?

It could be mis-sized ie the wrong label it does happen. I have found a pretty high (relatively) percentage of stuff in TKMaxx is mis-sized.

I don't not believe them but there seems to be a ton of reasons lately as to why it's my fault they want to return something. Think i'm going to avoid clothing from now on all my returns are clothes!

They've also just left fb, whay ask to refund something but leave pos fb straight after?

Clothes at TKM come from all over the world, so it could be the US, AU etc size, and often they just put that on the label.

More to the point re OP, don't just assume all buyers are scummers, as they are not.
Even when buying stuff from reputable companies you never know what you get.
For example I got a blouse that looks like two sizes too big, but they all are, not just mine, very odd.

Several times I got two sizes of the same and the biggest size is slightly smaller than the other in one of the measurements (e.g. waist).

I have two dresses from Wallis, identical but in different colours. Both are exactly the same fit, one is a size larger than the other. I had bought the same size as the one I already had, got it home and it was far too big. So one of them is mislabelled.

Your returns policy is the same as mine basically so I don't think thats to blame. I don't sell clothes but reading around the forums there seems to be far more problems clothes selling than any other sector. Just my observations.

Even putting measurements and fabric in the listings makes no difference, i had a buyer complain last week she didn't think a top was going to be stretchy even though clearly listed as such i still get the blame! lol selling on ebay!
Perhaps i should do what homebase did this morning to me and palm them off with the manufactuers details and take no responsibilty for it but thats another story...

Luckily enough clothing is only about 30% of my stock so i could drop it if it's too much grief. I've had 3 returns in about as many weeks but i have been selling a fair bit so i can't complain too much.
