How does collecting latest meter readings allow a supplier to 'pick up on' a wrong start reading?
If you know the start reading is wrong, what have you done about it over the past 2 years?

Hi rob will - As already posted, the raft of legislation that protects the Domestic Consumer does not apply to Business Supply Contracts, so I'm afraid you are on your own.
However you say that 2 years ago you changed from N'power to EDF, in which case you will have a Final Bill from N'power that states the End Reading of your account - This reading should tally with the Start Reading of your EDF account - If N'power's Final Read is higher than EDF's Start read, then this is your evidence that EDF have got wrong and have been overchargeing you0 -
Dogshome is correct.
With change of supply reads they are the same for the losing & gaining Supplier. If these don't match, they need to be corrected (e.g. if they overlap, they have both charged you, if they show a gap of no one billing you, you are better off!)
The only issue then becomes the fact that your new Supplier may charge less than the old. However, there is only 14 months from the date of your change to resolve that. If they overlap though, they can't use this 14 month rule against you.
And, gaining readngs does allow a Supplier to pick up on an opening reading error...it's a common way to do it since it will show negative reads or large jumps.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
