Unpaid item dispute - are all fees credited?

This is my first unpaid item dispute - so those with past experience I'd appreciate it if you would share your wisdom.
I listed an item for sale (using BIN) had a buyer who attempted to pay via paypal.
I than received a paypal message stating that 'there is a pending echeque' from paypal. Does anyone know what this actually means? I'm assuming that there is a problem with the purchaser's credit card details at Paypal.
Anyhow after contacting the buyer and not receiving much in the way of a sentient response, and no payment after 10 days I registered an unpaid item dispute and left it for a week or two.
I now have the option to close the dispute if I don't want to wait or communicate with the buyer etc.
What I want to know is exactly what fees are refunded by ebay (Listings, final value etc) if I choose to close the dispute or is it better to wait - I assume that disputes are automatically closed after a fixed period of time?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

I have received pending payments from PayPal - I think that it is possibly a way of paying by cheque, though don't quote me on this.
They have always become cleared PayPal funds a few days later except under two circumstances that might be pretty much the same - sometimes you have to manually accept or decline the payment and / or the buyer has paid the wrong amount or in the wrong currency.
I am pretty sure that you can only claim back basic insertion fees and the FVF from eBay. It might even be the case that eBay will only refund the listing fee if you relist it and it sells the second time.
Hope that this helps

Hi
You will only get back the final value fee, not the initial listing fee (unless, as pointed out above, you relist the item and it subsequently sells).
Hope this helps0 -
Going back to the original query. If you had a payment into your paypal account that showed as pending it was what is commonly termed an e check and takes approx 10 days minimum to clear. Unless you actually reversed that payment it will still be there and will either clear eventually or you will get a message to say that it has not cleared.
Check your paypal account, not the ebay page for more details. If the payment is still there showing as pending you should not start NPB process as buyer has paid and your NPB claim will be considered malicious. However, if the payment has disappeared, or returned unpaid, or if you have refunded it then enough time has elapsed for you to start NPB.
There is also the very strong possibility that your emails are not reaching the buyer, there are several ISPs that seem to routinely have problems receiving emails associated with ebay, if the buyer has good feedback then it might be worth giving him a call by phone.
E cheques are a right pain, for some reason paypal converted one of my buyers paypal payment to an e cheque last week and we have no idea why. All her other payments had gone via usual paypal and she hadn't done anything different. In the end I reversed the payment and she immediately repaid and this time the payment came through properly.

I would suggest you go to https://www.ebay.co.uk, click on help, then type in the search box 'unpaid item process'
This will then bring up the page with all the information you need.
One thing, I would say, is that on a multiple BIN, you only get a refund of the final sale fee. I know from my own personal experience. However, I don't know if you get a free insertion on a successful resale of an individual buy it now. If you want an answer to that question, try Live Help. I have found a very easy way of getting to Live Help. Open up a new web browser. Then, in the search box type 'ebay live help' and search. The first search item should be the correct page. Just click on it and go.0
