When to pay off card to avoid fees?

I have a card with 0% on purchases until 25th October. I have the money ready to pay off and I just wondered how soon before this date I would have to do it to prevent them trying to take the DD / charge interest. If I call up and pay it all off tonight could I close the card down straight away?

Have you sent your £1 test payment, to both check the conduit and time it's arrival/clearance?0 -
Thanks, Halifax CC.
I have the money available now and don't want the hassle of them taking the DD (on 1st of Nov) and then needing to refund again because I paid the card off too close to the DD collection date. Its the 1st time I've used a 0% card
Just out of interest why don't you close a card before receiving the zero balance statement?
Thanks I'm just new to this all.0 -
