child tax credits

can someone please advise me what i am entitled to, my wife and i have split up and our 16yr old daughter who is at collage lives with me for one week and lives with her mother for a week,i have just received a letter off child tax credits saying that they are stopping the credits and that we owe them £222.00 because they have overpayed us, now my wife is living with her other partner and they are both working but i dont know if she has told the tax credits this ? i also work full time and earn £24000 a year,so am i better off making a claim myself to the tax credits also is there anythink else i might be entitled too.

    Only 1 of you can make the claim for child tax credits. So you will have to discuss with her who will apply.
