Hsbc ppi - fighting for whats mine!

Helloi have a loan with the wonderful HSBC and sadly the PPI insurance to go with it of nearly 3000 smackers!!!! At the time of sale i was told that taking the PPI guarantees my chance of actually getting the loan on the decision part! And that i can cancel the PPI afterwards if i did not want it! To top it off i did tell the bank clerk that my current employer gives genuine sick pay etc and other benefits and i also have savings for emergencies! They did not listen and said that the PPI is still better! So i tried to cancel both in Branch and over the phone and was told i was not allowed to! It was for the life of the loan! So i have written to HSBC Complaints and included photocopies of the required paper work. I used a template on the yourmoney site and was a very good template to use. So its now just a waiting game!!! Fingers crossed HSBC will pay out or some how give me something! If i get no where i will go to the Ombudsman to progress it. A friend also said to go into the Branch and threaten closure of the account etc! But not sure if they would really care. I will post updates on any news!!!

    Hello all,
What a wonderful website this is, and after reading Jonny-bonz`s recent post i thought i would send in my current attempt to claim back the PPI i had been paying to the HSBC and hopefully get some positive feedback.
I am currently trying to claim back off the HSBC for 4 PPI policies for 2 mortgages that ran after each other. The 1st mortgage (our 1st home) was started in 1998 and had 2 PPI`s attached to it. I then moved house in 2003 whereby i cancelled the 1st 2 PPI`s and remortgaged with the HSBC again taking out another 2 PPI policies. I have since changed mortgage supplier in 2007 whereby i cancelled the last 2 PPI policies with the HSBC.
Now my arguement as to why i think i was misold the PPI was the fact thae both myself and my wife were in extremely well paid and stable jobs which supplied a minimum of 24 weeks full sick pay, private health care and death benefits of 4 x ours salaries and excellent redundancy packages if it would have come to being made redundant, our point is that we would have had more than suffiecient funds / income to cover our mortgages if need be.
When we took out our 1st mortgage we did verbally state this but was pursuaded to take out the insurance "just in case" and as for the 2nd mortgage we thought we had to take extra cover as it was the "norm" we was not told we could get PPI elsewhere also that our employer benefits could be used as cover!
We also had an HSBC credit card from 2004 to 2007 with PPI attached that we are trying to claim back for the same reason.
estimated premiums paid for the 5 PPI`s is £10,050 without any interest that might be calculated.

HOPEFULLY we may see some return in the near future as i have written the 1st letter enclosing all copies of the PPI and C/C details as well as our employer benefits package and private health cover. I hope this should do the trick but i would be extremley graeful for some feedback from the wonderful people at MSE.

    Regards
    Harry
  • hello there

  • Hi Jonny,

thanks for replying, just an update really, i 1st made contact with HSBC by phone on the 10th Sept to initally complain then sent my 1st letter on the 20th Sept and then rang them on the 26th Sept to see whether they had recieved / started to deal with my complaint, to which they replied quite rudely "what ALL 26 pages of it" whereby i politley replied yes.
So i am awaiting their response.
Hope all goes well with your claim.

    regards
    Harry
  • Hello

HSBC should have got their letter today :) It seems they take there time in replying to you! I can say, that there all very friendly and hunk dory when they try to sell you something etc. As soon as you compain, they get all rude and not helpful in any way! Some people are telling me to close my account with them and go else where??

    Jon :)
  • Update on HSBC PPI Claim :(!!!

It has been over a week since HSBC has replied to my complaint about PPI! So i rang their head office! They did recieve my letter and has been scanned on to their system and are dealing with it. However! HSBC have recieved 5000 of these claims and are so back dated that they are only on the 9th September complaints! They only recieved mine on the 6th this month! So its a waitng game! They do not even have the courtesy to let me know that its being delt with! I even went in to my Branch and a clerk there was asking me about how i was mis sold the PPI. She seemed a bit funny about it all and that every PPI case has to be investigated with the Staff member who sold it. She even mentioned how i had a 30 day cool off period with HSBC, BUT was NEVER told this at the time of buying it. So i have now got to wait for god knows howl ong to get a reply. I feel i will just get a letter saying that i wont be getting back my PPI! Fingers crossed! :(

    Hiya

    Fingers crossed.

You should have told her to refer to your letter, all the answers are enclosed in your reclaim complaint.

    Good luck with this.

  • I should have told who to refer to the letter ? :) The bank clerk? Because she had it on her screen the copy of the letter, but she did not really read it. This was when i was instructed to phone up head office and follow up the complaint. Was then told bu the advisor on the phone that they recived the letter etc and everything is back logged. Which i think is appauling! Its just waiting weeks for them to actually start the invesigation. The bank clerk was very defensive over the PPI in branch, but it wasnt the branch i took the PPI out in

Exactly, that is why its always best to correspond in writing, in case they try verbally fobbing you off.
