advice - unpaid for 6 weeks

Hello
After some advice and if possible, use some of your vast knowledge,
Friend of mine is working for a small company which is struggling and all the staff have not been paid for around 6 weeks (Paid fortnightly) owner keeps saying that there is money around a corner, but it has never appeared, of course if they leave they get no benefits. This situation has gone on for months, but the owed money never gets over 6 weeks until this week where they are due to be paid 2 weeks and there is not money in the pot they have been told so takes it to 8 on Friday
What avenues are there?

  • To not pay an Employee according to contract would be classed as 100% unlawful deduction from earnings, Your friend could take them to a tribunal for this. I think ACAS would be their best point of contact for further in depth advice

Go on the radio and whinge and drip like Chris Moyles did?

    Hope you get sorted soon.
Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly, and for the same reason.

thanks for your replies and yes chris moyles is the best idea

Main issue with this is they are living very close to the bread line anyway and not having any way to turn,
Yes go to a tribunal but will take months,

It seems that if it gets to 8+ weeks then the employee has some rights and can make a claim and leave the buisness,

So lets wait and see, thanks for your replies
