Help me make back the cost of course in student discounts - homeware

I have started an evening class at my local uni, which cost £150.
The course coordinator told us that our student card is the same as any normal undergraduates, and we have all the same priviledges within the uni. She also said we would get all the same discounts at shops etc.
So, the way I see it, I should easily be able to make back the cost of the course within the year!
I've had a look through the great student discount thread, and there was a lot in there, but I mainly remembered all of those from my 'proper' student days, and are aimed (apporopriately enough!) at real students - i.e. cheap clothes, shoes, food, etc.
What I am looking for, specifically, is DIY and furniture discounts. I am moving soon from a flat to a house, so I will be spending over £4k on new appliances, furniture, decoration, and garden equiptment. I'd like to get 10% off as much of it as possible
I've spotted a dining set at The Pier that I like, and was planning to buy wardrobes in Ikea. Does anyone know if they do discounts?
Other of the things I'll need to buy are a freezer, lawnmower, paint, and bathroom flooring. At some point over the next year I want to lay a patio and buy a shed too. Maybe a new bed. Also, I will be getting some duvet covers, and small decoration items.
Any suggestions on how to milk my student card for all its worth while I can?
Fay

The Pier do a 10% student discount - you don't need an NUS card - just evidence you are a student...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200

Cool, thanks. The dining set I wanted was £700, so that's me half way there already!

IKEA don't do student discount afaik!
Some shops will only give you student discount with a proper NUS card... So add an extra tenner if you plan on getting one!0 -
Remember before you get a 10% discount you still have to pay out 90%.
Have a look at freecycle and see if there are any groupos in your area
