You need to cut down...a lot...Try reducing the shopping bill by half. £520 is a lot to spend.

Spending £82 on a overdraft is a lot too. Open a new account with a different bank and offer them an affordable monthly payment.

£60 is also a lot to spend on Sky. Does this include the contribution made by DD? If DD is paying for it all then don't include it on your SOA.

If you really have been putting £50 aside for Christmas then you should have quite a bit saved up. You can remove that from the SOA.

If DS wants to play golf so much then DS can get a part time job to pay for it or as you say sponsorship if you can find it.

Hi - I've put some comments above for you. Basically your budget shows a surplus of 200 a month - clearly you don't have this? I suspect that a lot of it is going on the things you haven't accounted for.
I suggest you redo the budget and make it more accurate - look through bank statements/estimate and it will give you a much better idea of how you really stand. Also a spending diary - this will really show you where all your money goes - knowledge is power.
Also I would suggest having seperate accounts for things if possible - ie put away 50 a month for christmas then you know what's in that pot is for christmas and if you spend it on something else then you won't have it for christmas spends - same thing for car expenses/mot etc.
Once you see clearly where all your money is going you can then start to make choices better. - ie do we have holidays /spend loads of food and treat ourselves or does it go towards the golf? that sort of thing.
    Good Luck

  • How old is you DS? Can he not get a weekend job to pay for his golf?

I think Dancing fairy has covered everything - Your shopping bill is huge - Have you tried the old style boards for budget ideas? I use lovefoodhatewaste.com, try shopping online - Use a store compare to see where it is cheaper - downshift in products, use cash back sites etc

Your electric bill is high even if you are at home. Have you spoken to your supplier - is there another cheaper supplier? Turn everything off, dont leave things on standby.

If your surplus is £200 a month but you dont actually have that then keep a spends diary (write EVERYTHING in it, even to the last 1p) and see where the waste is.

    Hi

Please can you use the proper format with the full details. http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html

If you are feeding DD, DD's boyfriend and a GD each week, where is their financial contribution coming from?

With respect to the golf, you need to find charitable support or sponsorship for him.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

DD is 22 and you pay for her and her BF....Get her to contribute something to the household. Anything..and not just the Sky. Should be at least £10 per week and up to around £50 per week depending on what she earns. Or tell her and her BF to buy and make their own food. Do they actually live with you? You said 2 days per week or is that just the weekend that you feed them?

Why do you pay for 3 phones? You should only be paying for your own. If anyone else wants one for emergencies then get each of them a giffgaff SIM and put £10 on it every 90 days. You get free calls between them.

You don't have to buy grandkids or adult kids christmas presents. It's nice but it's not needed. They should appreciate that you are in severe financial difficulty and that present swapping at christmas will be limited to home made stuff only. Don't get into debt for a pressie that's only going to be used a few times that put in the cupboard forever never to be seen again. They want your presence at christmas not your presents....At least they should..

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Sorry if this has been mentioned - you are paying for petrol / fuel, but no other car related costs? Also, your food bill is VERY high - pop over to the 'Old Style' board for more tips on reducing this.

Well done on posting, it is usually a big step to admit you are struggling financially - I'll pop back later then I have a bit more time to give xx
