BOF Interest Rates Unchanged at 4.75%

Surely this must provoke some sort of reaction/discussion on this board? Or are people just fed up with trying to predict the future?;)

I was hoping for .25% this month & next.

Oh well, it looks set for next month.
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.

Ah, Guy, you couldn't resist a prediction...I knew someone would bite. Besides, not everyone was predicitng rates being left unchanged. The BBC news this moring were portraying a very jittery situation.

At the beginning of the month I didn't think they would rise, but when the CBI called for a rise, I thought perhaps they would.

Currently I am anticipating a 0.25% rise next month & it would take some devistating figures to change that, though the way the ONS keeps cocking up, that wouldn't surprise me.

What i've learn't today is that not all interest rate decisions are the same, the board only do a FULL review every 3 months (last was august with the previous rise) this review is based purely on the news etc. The next real review is in November when it been predicted that they will rise. Also theres some data on GDP or something around that time too.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I'm surprised they didn't go up to be honest. It will just make things harder in the long run.

Still November it is I guess.

My guess is that the next surveys will show the housing market not far off 10% annual inflation and climbing.

If you're remortgaging, now's the time to grab that fixed rate while it's still on the table.
