I have a saey blenheim stove (with boiler) that I would like to use as stove without the boiler. Has anyone dones this before?, any advise on how to go about it?
P.s. the saey stove is left over after replacing it in the main room with a bigger stove with boiler.

hi irebrogan, seems you're not getting any responses.
How did you get on with the saey blenheim stove?
I have been given the same blenheim back boiler stove, wanting to remove the boiler and use it in my design studio (after a serious clean up, it's very rusty). Assuming you've made some progress since last October, what would you now recommend?
I've looked into having firebricks made, (as well as needing new glass). if you check out stovespares.co.uk and follow the links to blenheim, they have all the spares on there if you need any. (sorry I cant post the link)
Cheers for now!0 -
unfortionatly, I've gotten no solid info and the stove is still sitting in my garage.
Some people suggested filling the boiler with sand and others suggested drilling a hole in the boiler and that it would eventually just burn away. I'd love to find out if it could be just removed?
Sorry I can't help any furthur!0 -
ah sorry to hear it's still sitting around unused!
I read online somwhere about filling it with sand... not convinced yet.
I've emailed Saey customer services on the chance they can give me some info on the old stove, and potentially removing the boiler.
If you're thinking of selling it, one went for £750 on ebay in December.
I'd rather put mine to use though.
I'll let you know of Saey get back to me.0 -
I bought a stove with a boiler that had been used without water in it. Needless to say, the boiler had severely distorted and burned through in several places.
I gave it to my father-in-law who removed the boiler and rebuilt the stove with firebricks in its place.
I wouldn't have thought filling the boiler with sand would help as the boiler skin is very thin and you need something to take the heat away (water.)0 -
Thanks nomadslave, I'd be interested to hear if Saey come back to you.
Gloomendoom, My fear with using a stove w/t boiler but unconnected would be that the trapped air within the boiler might explode, sounds very dramatic but that's I was warned against.0 -
That's what I was concerned about Gloom. Perhaps building up with firebricks is possible then. but the boiler looks difficult to remove from the blenheim stove, and then the back panel will be left with 'holes' where the pipework was. I'll have to go examine some stoves and see what i think is possible.0

It can't explode if you leave the water pipes disconnected so that no pressure can build up.nomadslave wrote: »That's what I was concerned about Gloom. Yup. I completely dismantled the stove to get the boiler out. Having said that, you may get it out by just removing the top. The holes for the pipework were sealed up when the firebrick lining went in.0
