You need to get them to fill in and sign the appropriate section of your log book. Then you give them the rest of the log book and send the filled in section to the DVLA. I took a copy of the section before posting to DVLA and I also took the numberplate of the guy who came to collect, just in case! But I have now received notification from DVLA that the register is updated.
For information, I got £40 and was happy. I had no tax or MOT and nowhere to store the car so any money I might have made by selling could easily have been wiped out by a hefty fine. good tip about ebay for the future though!0
