Yes it is, "cottoned on to" is a perfectly legitimate English phrase and is used in the correct context in the article."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Of course cottoned is a word when it's followed by "on". One spelling mistake is hardly error strewn.0

It's interesting that they presume women want a pink console and to play games like 'Desperate Housewives'
I think I'll stick with the black and green console while I'm playing Halo
The game which initially got me into playing was Jet Set Radio Future which isn't a shoot em up or a racing game and has both male and female characters. It's the only game I can think of that isn't 'male' or 'female'.Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
It's a verb so you need to be able to alter the tense, you'll find the word "cottoned" is in the dictionary.ericthekidstoner wrote:I thought the proper use was "cotton on to" (without the "ed")"She is quite the oddball. if the girls aren't buying that pink console, the blokes must be lol
never heard of Jet Set Radio Future
there's been loads of gender neutral games in recent years - mainly thanks to the dance mat
for me, Counter-Strike is still *the* game (as Tim The Toolman Taylor would say... hor hor hor). Don't get many girls playing this title0 -
That's the free market for you, either it'll be successful and will sell and they can say "we were right" or it won't sell and it'll be something learnt for the future in case anybody brings it up they can say "we tried that it didn't work, let's move onto something else".Jay-Jay wrote:It's interesting that they presume women want a pink console and to play games like 'Desperate Housewives'
The pink console: they did say it was aimed at young girls which is almost certainly a niche market anyway. The average age of video game players is now 33."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

fair enough
on the same subject (on both typos and gaming fronts)...http://www.bbc.co.uk/films/2006/10/03/high_noon_october_03_2006_news_article.shtml
WarGames Returns
Some sequels are long-awaited, some are long-delayed. But only occasionally you get one that is actually long-forgotten. So rejoice, geeks-of-a-certain-age, at the news that WarGames is getting a sequel, a mere 23 years after the release of the original. Readers with long memories may recall the film, which featured a teenage David Broderick accidentally hacking America's missile defence network with a ZX81, a rotary phone and some gaffer tape. According to Production Weekly, the sequel folows a teen nerd who somehow manages to convince Homeland Security of an imminent terrorist attack. No sign of Broderick this time, but let's face it, he still looks young enough to play the role.
typos are easily made, but who's David Broderick??? tell me a film journalist didn't mistaken a David with Matthew (character name is David Lightman)!
quite interested in seeing the Sequel. I wonder what puter they're gonna use... X-box? I can see a big marketing/sponsorship war between MS, Sony and Apple lol0 -

I agree, there's plenty of games I like playing where either there's no specific gender attached to the player or if there is you have a choice of male and female characters. Also I don't see why you'd have to play the same gender anyway, surely it's the type of game and game content that's more important. I'm sure the majority of Tomb Raider players were male."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Appropriately timed considering the recent release of Defcon: http://everybody-dies.com/"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
