Sonic DVD Copying problem

I have a DELL Laptop (just over a year old now) which had Sonic pre-installed.
I've been in contact with Dell via email, and have tried everything they have suggested as a solution, but the last email is a "brush-off" email.

The problem is that Sonic is showing "No drive detected", but I can access the Movie DVD Folders & Files via Explorer, and play Movie DVD's using PowerDVD.

Tried uninstalling & re-installing Sonic and have tried re-seating the DVD drive. Error seems to be a software issue as it is just Sonic that won't recognise the DVD Re-Writer.

Any ideas??
It has taken about 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years for the Earth to form as it is now .........
and it'll only take about another 100 years for mankind to really **** it up!!!!
