Saving texts as potential evidence

Having a dispute with a contractor at the minute and we have finally come to a compromise. I will be seeking agreement in writing of course but there is some key evidence in text message format should this issue raise it's head in the future. Is there any way of recording this info other than storing it on my phone?

you could connect your phone to your computer and copy the text message to the computer and you would then be able to print it if required

Write it down on a piece of paper.
Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.
  • Forward then to another phone

Tanto has the best suggestion. Otherwise, take photographs of the senders name and message on your phone's screen???

I don't know, but I suspect that you won't be able to move the text messages and prove that you haven't tampered with them. I'm not sure whether a court/tribunal/whatever would accept the original text messages on your SIM as evidence, but if not (or if you want to erase them), it might be best to contact your network provider and ask if they can provide a formal statement quoting the relevant texts.
  • For anybody wanting to consider this in the future I have found a solution with my iPhone.

Simply take a screenshot of your text conversation by clicking the home button and lock key at the same time. This will be saved into your camera roll and can be transferred to a computer for safe keeping.

Of course if you deleted the name from your phonebook it would only show up as the number.... So cant be faked ;)
