The LA may well take the OP's circumstances into account i.e. she only found out recently she was not to be considered a student from Feb 2010
And she can prove this
As I have said before Apply/Appeal/Appeal
These are your rights You are not wasting anyones time
BTW OP always tell the truth when you are dealing with authorities Do not try to hide anything This could come back to bite you in the future

Would the government actually have any idea if I would need to pay council tax for that period?
I mean as far as they are aware I was a student for the whole year and it has been paid....
How would they find out?

How? I asked on here a while back something along the lines of "how do I know when I won't be considered a student?" Now, I knew no-one was going to say "oh, it'll be from <date>" - I got told by a few people how I would find out this information.Sealed pot challenge #232.
