Can Anyone Teach Me Basic Excel In A Week!

I recently went for an interview and had to do a test in Excel which I'm rubbish at. I can open a spreadsheet, put data in and total a column (using the backward E thing) however I had to separate the males from the females in the sheet. Then arrange the people on the list by their date of birth using the 'filter' I was gutted when I left the interview as I had done really well on the Word test. To my surprise they gave me the job - I did tell them at the interview my Excel skills were very basic (not non existent!) I start the job soon and would like to know how to do a few basics before I start and obviously improve once I'm using it. I'm nervous about starting a new job and would feel more confident with a bit of knowledge. Are there any websites or basic instructions for using Excel I can obtain from anywhere. The help facility on the excel spreadhsheet is so slow and it was also disabled at the test but I would like something I can print off and refer to.thank you.

I did an advanced diploma which covered Excel, among other things a few years ago. I will need to brush up on a few things when I go back to work.
I suggest buying Excel for Dummies. I'm a big fan of the for Dummies range, as it covers all you need to know, in a straightforward concise way.0 -
Not really looked at it, but had this link saved to look at some time.

There are numerous free guides on the internet. If you google "excel tutorial" it will list dozens. I've found though that it is easier to learn if you are working with familiar data such as your CD collection.0

I taught myself how to use Excel by first understanding VBA and how to manipulate data.
http://www.!!!!!!!!!.com/biz7/julian_s/julian/julians_macros.htm
That is the best website for VBA, I used codes from that website to understand VBA 1st then when I went into spreadsheets to edit the final data I just found myself understanding everything else very easily.
Because of this I create spreadsheets in my job, it isn't in my job description but I do it anyway and they reward me. I got £50 vouchers today for it as a matter of fact.0 -
Check out lynda.com and https://www.jargonfreehelp.com/excel.asp
Also mrexcel.com that was mentioned has an excellent discussion board for sorting out problems.
YouTube is good, as mentioned, but not well organised.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Don't worry too much about Excel, you've been honest on the current skill level with Excel, any sane company will allow you to train on the job or take a training course, and there's always an office geek on hand to help0
