my daughter is not entitled to her e.m.a last week because she had one day off as she had a migraine - so, her 4 full days she did attend didnt count - so unfair, this is the first day off she has ever had in her 2years of studying - so unfair isnt it?

If you write a letter explaining that she was ill and couldn't attend then she should be entitled to that weeks payment. I recieved EMA for every week that I was at 6th form, even though I probably took around 10 days off sick in total.0

I just think the ema is unfair to all students who dont meet the requirements, although im sure a missed day due to a genuine reason should be able to receive that weeks worth, well it as allowed at our school.
I was on ema, i think i received 3 payments, thats what you get for being late, £20 a week to get up early?, dont be silly.0 -
some lecturers/tutors are just tight.
I got EMA last year, and i would take days off, sometimes without giving a reason for why i was off. But i think i got my EMA every week, and all bonuses.
I turned up late just about everyday too.
But she is definatly entitled to her EMA if there's a valid reason, so as UltraViolent said...write a letter.0 -
EMA is a joke. Like you should get paid to go to school. Please...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200

my sister gets EMA, her college has a recorded line you ring and quote the 4 digit EMA code if they are ill but you have to do it on that day before
10:00am (i had to do this the other day, when my rents go away i have to go and stay at their house as they dont trust my sister on her own!)
i never got it coz 7 years ago it was based on post code, not income. as my parents didnt have the cash to cover essential stuff like bus fares, dinners, course stuff, etc. so i had to work at maccies for 20 hours a week (the wages were rubbish, so i only got £70-odd a week for all that!) and it really affected my a-level results. my sister works as a waitress but im glad she also gets the EMA so she doesnt have to work as much as i did.:T The best things in life are FREE! :T0 -
