Anyone had everest replacement flat roof?

Hi,

We have a flat roof above a dormer window that needs replacing in the near future, and have got three quotes for this job - 2 from local companies and one from everest.

The roof is approx. 3 x 2 m (roughly, don't have the exact figures to hand) and the quotes involve removing the existing felt and boards, replacing the boards and new roof and insulation on top.

The local company that quoted for a replacement felt roof came in at just over £1000.

Another local company came in at about £2600 or a glass fibre roof including new soffits/fascias and improved insulation etc. with a 20year insurance backed guarantee.

Everest came in originally at a whopping £5900 or so, and subsequently have reduced it down to firstly £3500 and now to £2800 which is coming in line with the other quote for what appears to be a similar glass fibre roof and includes the costs of scaffolding etc.

At first we were unwilling to go with the Everest quote for a number of reasons -the price was a major factor obviously but also they seemed to be pushing their home account finance option very strongly and seemed to have a lot of pressure to buy today etc. which we were not happy to do.

I am aware of Everests rep for high quotes etc but bearing in mind they have reduced their quote to be in line with local company for a similar product with a lifetime guarantee, does anyone have any experience of everest for flat roofs and in general? What is the quality like? Is there anything that we should know about Everest that we should consider when making a decision?

Thanks for any advice/thoughts :)

Any particular reason apart from their strategy for quoting wildly high prices then reducing them to make it look like a good deal?

Are there any problems relating to work quality etc.? They do offer a lifetime guarantee which sounds great but I haven't seen the small print for this so not sure if there are any funny clauses i.e. you can only claim if the roof fails when there is a storm on the third wednesday in november with a prevailing westerly wind or something silly like that...
