hi there thanks for the responses, i dont want to claim csa money for him he has moved out of his parents (my brother/wife) and moved in with us i just wanted to know about tax credits, ema, child benefits etc
looking at ema website he would only get £10 as we both work and earn too much, but have been told by various people we could claim as if he was renting a room from us and we could get rent cheques off the council and he would get income support, would we be able to do this as we own the property
he is studying catering in his second year0 -
He cannot get income support if he is in FT education. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

I'd think it all depends on whether or not his parents are still claiming benefits i.e. CTC/CB for him. I'm not sure but I can't see LA paying HB for him to rent a room in a family members home.Beth

I can't see anything that prevents someone who is not considered a CLOSE relative. Can't see nephew listed on the definition here.
However, full time students without dependents or disabilities are not usually eligible for HB/LHA.

Have to wonder if the OP got all the relevant benefits CB, CTC etc how could they possibly claim for renting a room?I can't see anything that prevents someone who is not considered a CLOSE relative. Can't see nephew listed on the definition here.
