Paying for postage/non working item

My neighbours lap top charger gave up the ghost last week, so I bought him a new one off ebay. Unfortunately, when it arrived it wouldnt work. My neighbour voltage tested it and nothing.

I contacted the seller whom was apologetic, said I didnt need to send it back but he would send me a new one out. If i paid £1.50 for the postage.

Now, its probably me being really petty but I am not sure why I have to pay anything? I will probably end up paying £1.50 and getting another non working charger possibly embossed with 'mug' on the side.

So what would you do? Pay the £1.50 and hope for the best? Ask for money back and return old charger? I have never had any sort of problem with ebay items before, advice welcome. :money:

As you'll have to pay return postage anyway to return it, I'd open up an "item not as described" dispute, and send it back, requesting they pay return postage as it's faulty. I wouldn't trust another one.

If they don't pay return postage, then they deserve a neg! I presume they're a business seller given they have several...?
