Hi there,
My sons Ipod touch has a problem with the backlight, the ipod works fine or at least i think it does as i can vaguely see the apple logo when i turn it on, when speaking to apple on the phone they said it seems like the back light and to send it off to them for repair as hes only had it 4 months, they then refused to repair it saying its water damaged....my sons adamant its not been wet and he usually is very careful with his things, the red thing they asked me to look for in the headphone jack isnt red at all infact its just the same colour as the rest of it.
Ive tried to get it repaird locally taking it to mobile phone repair shops and such but they only deal with iphones, so im stuck with an expensive ipod 4months old thats no good grrrrrrrrrrr.
can any1 reccommend somewhere that repairs them.
thanks

Water damage is highly unlikely to just damage the backlight and nothing else. The whole iPod would be a gonner. If you think your repair claim is fair, make out it only has had an adult owner and try again more adamantly.0

When i rang apple i told them the Ipod was mine and that im certain its not been water damaged, not even rain drop damage, there response was that they will repair it for a fee!!, i even threatened trading standards but still i had no luck, im not even 100 sure they opened the ipod as i seen on watch dog once that if they seen a red thing in the headphone or charging jack they claim water damage without even opening them...that was for iphones tho.£2 coin savers club = £118

Apple will fix it under warranty, you just need to stand your ground.
If you have a local Apple accredited repair centre near you (a quick google will find out) or an Apple store take it to one of the "Geniuses" and they will either exchange under warranty or arrange for it to be repaired.
The Touch 2G LCD screens (sounds like it’s the part you need) don’t cost much, about £20, they are pretty easy to repair yourself, just look at some YouTube video guides.
