Virgin have given me 2 accounts - by mistake!

I applied for a Virgin credit card 2 weeks ago (with their free case of wine, 0% purchases for 3 months & 0% with 2% fee on BTs for 12 months offer).

I applied online, while I was waiting for the final page to process, I had to answer the front door, when I got back to my computer, there was a screen saying that the product was unavailable. So, I phoned up and went through the application by phone.

I have noticed 2 searches for MBNA who operate the card. And I have had 2 letters giving me pin numbers, each letter has a different "card ending in" number on.

So, it looks like they have opened 2 accounts for me. Does anyone see any issues with this?

P.s. I was going to stooze with the card anyway! (Hope they set high credit limits on both!).

First card arrived while I was at work with a £10K limit on it.

They said I can BT straight to my current account. Does this mean I do not need to use Egg Money, or is there a catch that I should be aware of?

The only thing I'd watch out for on a new Virgin (MBNA) card is that they still class the transaction as a balance transfer - and not as a 'Money Transfer' which will incur near cash advance rates of interest. See section 16 of your T&C's, do the (S)BT on the phone, and make full notes of the conversation!

Oh, and on the subject of two cards, you're not the first to enjoy this lucky break. ;).

Not yet, but the other pin notification came a few days after the first.

So I suppose it would be better to use Egg Money (which I recently got) & possibly get cashback with their transfer loophole!

You could do, but it's a bit hit and miss at the moment as to whether they'll do the transfer by BACS (which you need for the cashback) or BT.

However, if you have an Egg Savings account, asking them to transfer to here seems to always result in cashback being paid.

Definition of "Money Transfer" in my T&Cs:
a transfer of funds from your account to another financial institution other than into a credit card or loan account

So it looks like Egg Money is the way to go.
