bespoke cupboard quote

I want a little cupboard to cover over some exposed wires and a fuse box in my home and have been quoted £300. That's rather a lot, isn't it?
(I'm guessing, as I haven't had anything like this made before, but it's not using expensive materials or anything so strikes me as pricey. Hoping to get another quote today)
thanks all.

at london prices its probably about right.
days labour for a tradesman 200/250 quid?
why not buy a simple cheap cupboard and cut the back off it?
i did this once for a gas meter. cost? nil.

I guess i want something that looks like it was made for the space and put in professionally rather than a random cupboard that's been badly installed by me.
If that means paying for it I'll gladly do so - I just thought it would be a bit less than that, maybe £150. Will see how I get on with quote no. 2 but that's worth knowing, thanks.0 -
a cheap wooden cupboard, sanded down and painted will look, how you want it to look.
badly installed?

Thanks for your inputs guys - just FYI I had a quote done 'in situ' for £100 later on this afternoon, so was glad my hunches were right! I think perhaps it was slightly smaller when actually measured up than I had estimated, but not a great deal. Will wait and see what the finished job looks like before being too smug though!0
