TV License paid for a year only get 11 months

So I moved into my first property on the 26th of October 2009, registering and paying for the years TV license. However I am now being chased for next years TV licence advising that it expired on the 30th of September.
Surely this is not fair and the TV licence should run for 12 calendar months from date of payment, rather than backdating the license to the start of every month even when it was not required for the start of the month

That's the rules and that's what you agreed to when you signed up. Nothing you can do about it.0

It should last for the full twelve months.
The same as car tax though, isn't it? But that doesn't make it right.
I think you should right to your MP and get it changed.

You are, of course, right. It is not fair.

I have no problems paying for it, however the system is just completely out dated and unfair. For the record I think £140 odd quid is decent value0 -

No idea how they police it but its only free if you watch it something like iplayer...if you watch tv on a laptop etc as it's being shown on tv then technically you're meant to have a licence for it0 -
I've just moved into a house, i was expecting <£15 a month, turns out they want the full £150 before april (when it returns to <£15) which works out at £30/month from Nov-March
i hadn't budgeted for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0
