We have more than 5000 songs stored on i tunes and as I am getting rid of the CDs I dont want to lose them.
We also have about 2000 photos and videos stored.

Can anyone recommend storage for me to buy.

    Hi

I just got this Freecom 250gb £37.93 from Amazon (good reviews and free delivery) for my BIL and he is very pleased - portable tend to be more expensive than desktop though, but very handy.

But if you have a lot of dvds to store (2000?!) you may want to think about something bigger. lookin at around 4.7gb per dvd as a guide.

Perhaps someone can recommend a good deal on a larger portable/desktop.

    two things would be useful.

    1) one could be approximately what storage size u r looking for . 5000 songs and 2000 photos plus CDs doenst help much. though if u go for something over 300GB it should cover you for some time. of course higher capacity you go, u get better value for money/ GB (usually)

    2) physically how big do you want your backup drive to be. if using with desktop computer then buy desktop extenal drives. if u need to be able to move hard drive in pocket with you then buy smaller size drives which will be costlier of course.

for example u can get this for around £44

    http://direct.tesco.com/product/default.aspx?R=206-4435

can use TDX-RTHK code to get £10 off (not sure if its still working though)

look on HUKD forum and even here. there are regularly many posts with good deals on hard drive.s

thats actually not a lot these days. but i would suggest that you go for something like 160 or 250GB at least so that would last you a good time. for same money as 1TB drive (around £40-50) you can get portable 500gb hard drive as well.

    for example:

    http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/9752949/Seagate-Expansion-500GB-External-USB-2-0-Desktop-Hard-Drive/Product.html

    one more desktop hard drive:

these are by no means best deals out there but are fairly good deals and should give you an idea of what to expect. if u need more help post back.
