I wasn't being totally disingenuous in my post.
Maybe I choose to reinterpret the posted limits at certain times. I'm thinking motorways during the early hours or Welsh B roads over moorland early on Sunday mornings, that sort of thing. Situations where a road traffic officer wouldn't be concerned.
I don't want to get involved in some major knee jerk arguments about it, but to think that some tut tutting zero-aptitude computer might be flagging up all sorts of violations concerns me.

You are quite correct. Like I said, I think the concern of a lot of people is what happens to data recorded, rather than the fact that it is recorded. Speed cameras and fines are a big issue at the moment, and equally valid arguments are available on both sides as to for and against speed cameras and the effects of speed in terms of accidents.

Computers can't discern between what would be reaonable speed (in most peoples eyes) against what is reckless. I accept the whole volluntary issue, however unless NU are upfront about what data will be captured and who will have access in what circumstances then I don't think people can make informed decisions.

If the police have a case of a missing person will NU provide them with the location of their vehicle? In the case of an accident will NU offer up the speed data to confirm that the vehicle(s) was not speeding? If I am caught in a speed trap and wish to dispute it, will NU give ME the speed data?

I am tempted by this as I cover a very small milage (< 6000) and pay £550 for fully comp insurance. However, I know there will be times when I exceed 70 mph on motorways and don't want the coppers to be handing out 3 points/£60 fines based on what's been recorded by the 'spy in the cab'.

Also, how do I know what is 1p/mile journey and a £1/mile journey? Does the system show you what the applicable tariff is?

they will state what tarriffs apply to who and when (and where). It would be up to you stick to these.

I am getting a feeling as well, listening to some people at uni the other day, taht people think NU will accept anyone on this scheme. I've heard it being compared to someone with a poor credit history getting a pay as you go phone. I'd hate to be working for Nu at the moment (or any other time, but that's another matter).

I was actually on the pilot scheme for PAYD with NU and I have just had a quote for the real gozmo to be fitted into my car, and based on the fact that thye are quoting the premium on 500 miles per month ( and I do way under that) I will be quids in. Also add to that the fact that you have a permanent radio link to NU in the event of accident or breakdown and the option of a speech sat nav system and optional speed camera warnings, I think I could be on a good deal here.
