  • Has anyone been turned down trying to see a film without the newspaper/magazine promo. I've got tickets to unstoppable but I don't have the paper and I'm not sure I can get a mail on sunday tomorrow

Watched Psycho tonight - part of the Jamesons Cult Film Club screenings. The venue was stunning - Union Chapel, Islington - converted chapel with beautiful interior and original pews intact.

Doors opened at 7pm, by which point there was a very long queue of hundreds winding round the corner onto Upper Street. But not a problem as the place was absolutely massive - lots of (reasonably comfortable) seating, also at balcony level. Wouldn't have imagined people being turned away due to the sheer size of the Chapel.

We were greeted with a mini band playing live music before the film started - including the infamous music score from the film itself. Followed by a short live re-enactment of the even more infamous shower scene! Topped off with yummy whisky cocktails throughout the film...even more after :)

My friend and I had an absolutely wonderful Halloween night - even managed to sneak off with a couple of pumpkins!!

Not personally but I have heard of it happening. It's more to do with if the stafff are 'jobsworths' or not.

Which cinema will you be going to? You might find someone with personal experience.

This has never happened to me either.
Rather annoying when I have been rushing around and getting stressed about getting a copy of the paper..... then no one bothers whether you have one or not.
But it will be sods law that the one time I don't have the paper, they will ask to see it !!

You have a week to ask friends, family and work colleagues. Hopefully one of them will have bought the Mail.
Failing that, try loitering around your local paper recycling bins for people dropping off their old papers. I remember people on the newspaper thread saying they had done this when they were desperate to get a coupon or last token etc;)
