  • Is that how you defend your cause? Throwing dirt at people? :T Congratulations

No cause, and no dirt, just a pathological phobia of crass, sensationalised headlines...

e.g. "This is a disgrace!", "I wonder what is going to happen next!!!"

Adults read what they want to read! Or did anyone put a gun to your head? You don't like it, don't read it! Good Night!

Was anyone else at the Vue O2 Finchley this afternoon? The fire alarm went off minutes after Rango had started and people was kept waiting with the children out of the building in the cold for one hour before they said the performance was cancelled! This is a disgrace! To treat children like that! Nobody knew what was going on and most of the parents left in total dismay! For some of the parents this was their first experience wiht ShowFilm First and it seems to have left a horrendous experience. I wonder what is going to happen next!!!

I'm sorry Maria but I have to agree with TFE on this ...

Indeed. In the style of a Daily Mail article...
    :rotfl:

I read it originally as a total "NONE EVENT" had taken place but then in response to TFE, you said
    .................................
I am just reporting what happened.

Quite possibly - but you sensationalised it out of all proportion :)

SFF gave away FREE tickets to an event.
During this event, at a location not run by SFF, the building needed to be evacuated.
Time constraints sadly led to the event being cancelled.

OK it may have been handled a little better by the location's management .. keeping people informed (presuming they any information to go on)

BUT, where were those evacuated supposed to go ?
Into a "spare building" built "just for this purpose" alongside the location ?
This "Show Film First" "horrendous experience" is rather dramatic and misleading.
All SFF did is distribute tickets.

I'm sure that the period everyone had to wait was determined by Fire Brigade procedures or a Fire Steward / Alarm Engineer in diagnosing and rectifying any false alarm condition.

Ultimately lost time resulted in cancellation - THESE THINGS HAPPEN !

What should they have done ? Make time? Cancel whatever was going to be shown next on that screen and tell those money-paying patrons that turned up for that performance, some who may well have pre-booked and indeed already paid, to go away instead ?

Come on. An apparent false fire alarm caused a film not to be shown. Nothing else!

A few weeks ago thousands of people and over 100 horses travelled hundreds of miles at great expense to Newbury for a horse racing event. Two horses were electrocuted, several others receiving electric shocks, in the parade ring before the 1st race and the meeting was subsequently cancelled.
    Everyone went home.
That was probably NOT a nice or pleasant experience :)

We were there but left after 20 minutes waiting. It just pure bad luck the fire alarm went off, every one had to leave the building including staff; not to mention we saw small children/adult coming out the swimming/fitness centre just covered by towels; they were shivering.
Fire alert in such complex need at least an hour to make sure it is safe and staff need time to go back to rountine.
My son is very disappointed and just something he need to learn in life. I felt sorry for the lively girl from Virgin Media who took our tickets and gave children fridge magnet , must be bad for her as well.
Moving on, we are going to see Lord of the dance 3D at Empire this Sunday.:j
