Although an empty property is worth less than one with people living in it isn't it? That's what I'd heard anyway, I know people who've been told by estate agents not to move out because it will be harder to sell.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • I'm in a simuallar situation, i am seeing a solicitor next week, i have heard that the most you can do if the partner does not pay there half towards the mortgage (and you still want to pay it to keep your credit rating good) is get a form (don't know what its called, i'm going to ask the solicitor about it) where you still pay the mortgage but nay equity gained from the property from the day the form is issued becomes yours and you can claim back the interset from your mortgage payments (not half the payment) from your ex.

i don't know who deicedes what the property is worth as i see it you would want the property to be worth less so she would not gain much equity and when the property sells at a price you think it really is worth you would gain more.

if anyone knows more about this please advise.

I sold my house with it being empty and it stopped hassles with the bills etc but I see where you are coming from. Maybe you could both move out but leave some basic furniture there so it looks a bit like a show house.
