My husband called his bank and asked them to send him a statement of all the charges he has paid since opening the account. They have said that, as he should have kept records himself, it will cost him £10 to get a statement. Is this right? Or is he entitled to this information (seeing as though it is about him) free of charge?

He needs to write to them requesting the information, under the Data Protection Act, which will cost a maximum of £10 for ALL OF IT. They have 40 days to provide this information. PM me and i will send you a copy of the letter to send them. And yes the lady in the avatar is me

It can come as a continuous list of all the entries during the last six years. The bank is only obliged to provide the information, but it doesn’t have to come in an easily understandable format.0 -

As I understand it this only works if the statement information isn't held on microfishe (which most are) as the DPA doesn't cover that. Definately worth a try though as OP may get away with it.0
