Will find out on Thursday if my job is at risk.
Worried sick as have worked continuously for 32 years with only a 6 month break for last time was made redundant.
Will get 7 months pay if made redundant, am I allowed to pay off debts with the money before claiming benefits?
If I am not allowed and it is seen as dispossing of income wouldn't potentially being made bankrupt by some of my creditors preclude me from some occupations and therefore limit the work I could do?

You will be eligible for CB JSA for the first six months (ish), and savings are not counted for this (but will be for LHA/ SMI/ CTB etc). If you are still unemployed after six months, you will be assessed for IB JSA and your savings will be taken into account. They will want to know what you have done with your redundancy money. You are allowed to pay off priority debts, but overpayments on other debts are not allowed.Gone ... or have I?0
