Well, the letter does include a VAT and Company No at the bottom of the page. What's annoying is that, when we first asked him, he'd said between £850 and £1050, the following day when we'd asked him to confirm a price and when he could start, that's when he said £1050 all in, scaffolding, materials, labour and he'd start on the Tuesday, so we said ok. I guess we assumed then that was the total price and that's what we budgeted for, Ah well, you live and learn, all the time with us, we'll get there one day.....maybe!

Its still his word against yours, you would probably win if it came to court.

Send him the agreed amount, with a letter and take it from there.

He might settle for half, if that souinds fair to you, pay it and its done with.

    Just a thought.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I would slate him to all my friends and everyone I could tell. A business like that relies on the good will of customers and he is obviously not short if he is VAT registered. Maybe not the nicest thing to do but I wouldn't want anyone I know stung like this.

Have you confirmed the VAT Number is legit and matches the company name at the bottom?
