Pre payment meters are not hugely more expensive than other methods nowadays with BG only paying by dd is cheaper with BG. Saying that there monthly web-saver is a better way to monitor you spending and will be cheaper.

I cancelled the pre payment metres & have applied for websaver 9, so I guess its just a waiting game now.
Does anyone know how long british gas usually take to process applications??
    Thanks

I think it is pretty much straight away - if you log on to the website it should show you your tariff.

Your next steps should be to add readings regularly - there's no such thing as too often. Get into a habit and stick to it. This will mean that your payments match your usage as closely as possible.

For me pre-payment would be 25%, over £300 per year, dearer

Never associate with idiots on their own level, because, being an intelligent man, you'll try to deal with them on their level - and on their level they'll beat you every time.

You don't need to top up at a shop anymore - you can do it online. I love my meters - we spend far, far, less then we used to because we're far, far more careful with how much gas and electricity we use.
I forgot about the option to do it online but that's because I asked them to send the gizmo back in August, and early September and mid September and late September.. you get the picture.

The British Gas customer service people are very pleasant to speak to, promise the earth and then seemingly don't do anything. I'm due to have the meter replaced on Friday, no doubt the USB gizmo will arrive on Monday and then they'll charge me for not using it. I've become very pessimistic after dealing with British Gas. :(

    Hi,
I am paying british gas quarterly at the moment, so when our bill finally comes it is high.
I rang them up & asked to have pre payment metres installed, which are due to be installed this wednesday.
I have since thought about this & really don't want pre payment metres I would rather just change to monthly billing.
Is it possible for me to cancel the installation or will I be tied into it now.
    Thankyou.
Have you cleared the account so that you no longer owe them anything?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
