Job Seekers Allowance/ Allawance breakdowns

Hello all,

I know that one is entitled to JSA if they are below the
£16, 000 mark, but are there further thresholds for how much you get paid depending on your savings etc.

Example, if you have £5,000 you'll get say £50.00 p/two weeks, or if you have £7,000 you'll get £40.00 p/two weeks etc.

Thanks.

  • Me again!

I've been doing some searching and I think the threshold is a combination of other benefits, other incomes, savings over £6,000, other money coming in.

Just in case anyone else wanted to know.

It used to be that there was a lower and higher limit. The limited being £6000 and £16000

Any captal below the lower limit is exempt and if you have capital above £16,000 you cannot claim Income Based benefits.

For capital between of £6001 -£15999 there is a Tarif Income deducted for each £250.00 or part of and this results in any benefit entitlement being reduced by £1.00 for each £250.00

Income on the other hand is counted in full so that your benefit entitlement is reduced pound for pound

There is a disregard of £5 - £20 a week depending on your circumstances.
