As above has anyone been to the Waltzing Waters in Newtonmore? We will be in the area (ish) for a long weekend & I wondered if this would be any good for a visit with my 5 yr old daughter, especially if we get our typical Scottish weather.
Booo!!!

Thanks ailurio2, yes we have printed it off, can't tell if it will be any good, website not brill, think it's one of those things that it could be really good or deeply naff.Booo!!!0

I've been once - sorry if it's not much help but I would class it as enjoyably naff. This is sixties technology (my dad used to take me to see a show called Dancing Waters in Liverpool before a visit to Santa!) but the music is up to date. I would say that your five year old (and probably you) will enjoy it and if the weather is bad then go for it. If you are lucky enough to have good weather, well save it until next time you are in the area.
We go to Boat of Garten year after year so if you want any other suggestions for the area feel free to ask. Enjoy your long weekend.0 -
Agree it's hit or a miss, I was taken there in the early 90's by my aunt and her then boyfriend.. I was about 6 and thought it was ok-ish...:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0

Thank's for that, we are going to Tumnel Park closer to Pitlochry so might not make it up that far anyway, any tip's welcome though, like you say if the weather is good it's beautiful, but trying to entertain a 5 yr old in the rain is not so much fun. (what was I thinking booking a caravan in October!!)Booo!!!0

Ah my neck of the woods! (Originally)
Newtonmore is about an 45mins to an hour north of Pitlochry.
As for tummel bridge, there's not much, think there's a pool at the caravan site (don't know about tummel bridge too well to be fair). There might be more now!
In Pitlochry there's a childrens amusement.. it's not great, but it's a good way to keep them occupied for a few hours at expense to your pocket. There's also a dam and fish ladder nearby.
Otherwise.. for a 5yr old in October.. apart from lots of walks.. Pitlochry generally starts shutting down.. well except for the "Enchanted forest" which can be a bit of a rip off, if you go up before it's officially open, you can walk around "Loch dunmore" and see it while they are practising!
I'll see if I can think of anything else for you!:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0 -
Thankyou Chimpofdoom, we are only there for a few day's & it's a change from Dundee, little princess want's to go to a castle so think we'll go to Blair Castle, that looks good from their website. Am I right in thinking the only supermarket is a wee co-op?Booo!!!0

Blair Castle is worth the visit, inside it's a bit more like a baronial home than a fortified structure, but of course it's rich in History. But then the gardens are worth seeing and there's deer (can look, but can't touch!) in a field near the castle!
There's also Killiecrankie visitor centre which talks about the battle of killiecrankie and the soldiers leap, some childrens stuff in, and also the chance of spotting some red squirrels in the area too!
Yes, there's a co-op in town, it's ok for basic things. There's also a "Premier store" at the bottom of the town and Robertson's the Grocery shop (next to the chinese take away).
There's also a Scottish deli and bakery. The deli is a bit expensive but the produce is good. Didn't try the bakery last time I was home, but it looked alright!:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0 -
