So I've got myself a deep fat fryer, any ideas for what I can do with it, apart from the usual chips etc?

Churros!
I've been thinking about buying a fryer purely so I can make churros. And possibly doughnuts too...
We have this book at work and it has a recipe for something that looks like a cross between a churro and a doughnut. They're little skinny twisted things that contain yeast and are drizzled with honey and cinnamon, they look absolutely gorgeous. They're deep fried too, perhaps you could do something like that.0 -
Oooh, forgot about doughnuts. Are the twisty things yum yums?? They are scrumptious!0

Hi moneysavingnovice,
My deep fat fryer is still in it's box in the attic so I'm probably not the best person to advise but some things that spring to mind are battered fish, breaded mushrooms, onion rings, fried chicken, calamari, tempura prawns and deep fried camembert
I had a quick look on google and there are lots of links to recipes that may help: deep fat fryer recipes

All sorts of indian starters like samosas, pakora, bhaji etc ar ebest deep fried and particularly if you do veggie versions and make from scratch you can make a very impressive selection for very little money, great for dinner for friends on a budget.
If chinese is more your style try spring rolls, wontons and crispy seaweed (not really seaweed but spring greens).0 -
