Sorry you didn't it but glad you're mot bothered.

What's the website? For your graduating show?

As a result of my graduation show I was invited to be part of an exhibition in Newcastle during November - its a few recent graduates from each uni in the area and is quite a good way of getting your work seen. I have a web address and its all printed up on my flyers/business cards etc but its not actually ready! :naughty:

Obviously I am working hard on it and not still browsing MSE :o :rotfl:

Good morning - quick visit! Sorry you didn't get it but at least you were not surprised. Will you be phoning them for feedback? Always a good idea :)

I'm off to do it now... promise! I will sign out of my email so I can't see all the 'new reply' notifications and then I'll be fine :rotfl:

You're all gonna be required to 'test drive' this website when its ready, you know?!

That's very sweet of you Moozie - perhaps I can be allowed to return occasionally?! :rotfl:

Kath, been away, had to search to find this!
Sorry you didn't get it, glad you're so positive over it. What is meant to be will be.
Have you contacted the chair of panel and asked for feedback? a) will be useful b) if another post comes up they'll remember your attitude.

Good luck with website. You ARE working on it, aren't you....4_2_111v.gif
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Hi Ali! Kind of you to think of me and search out the thread :)

I have contacted them for feedback... but have had none! The letter stated to please email or write so I emailed, and have no reply! Its been a week so I think perhaps I'd better write now... don't want to seem rude... but they also offered to pay travel expenses (40p a mile for 230 miles :D ) and have heard nothing on that score either. Thanks for reminding me though... its on my to-do-list for tomorrow now.

I am getting on with my site... perhaps not as fast as I could be... but its getting there and it'll be ready in its basic form for the opening - barring disasters :o :rotfl: Thanks for the kick up the bum though ;):)

Also tomorrow I am going to ring some studios that I would like to work in, to find out if they have any vacancies for a trainee. This is a very brave thing for me to do really, but nothing ventured nothing gained I guess! I don't mind talking on the phone and I am really passionate and enthusiatic about the thought of working for them.... hopefully it will come across as that and not that I'm a pain in the !!!!!!!!! I won't go for the hard sell... just politely enquire ;)

I'll be sure to ask you all to look at my site when its done... sooner rather than later I hope!

  • Hi kathfisch, have been away from this site for a bit, but sorry to hear you didn't get the job. I agree with you when you say things happen for a reason. My stars about a month ago said that I should go with the flow and what happens will be the right thing for me. I got this job then 2 weeks ago with a company that advises on people starting their own business. Very interesting as I would love to have my own business and have wanted to for a while now. Not sure if that is my destiny yet or not, but I am finding out so much. Plus I have got another interview next week for a job I applied for when I was out of work. Wierd how things happen isn't it. Good luck in applying for more jobs.

First thing to say is Best of luck!

I've worked in HR and recruitment for 20+ years so done more interviews than I'd want to admit too.

Lots of good advice already given so just a few more wee bits...

    1. You've come along way already so well done and congrats on getting the interview. General rule is to interview 6 candidates per vacancy but I think that's dropped now to around 4. So - you've already beaten lots of competition!

    2. Competency based questions are almost a certainty. The company sounds as if they have a professional approach to recruitment (having an expenses policy is a good sign) so be prepared. Think of your achievements and your contribution. When answering be careful to say "I" rather than "they" or "we". Exception to this of course is when the questions are about team work then we is appropriate. think of examples you can use - if you haven't got a lot of work experience then think of other areas -ie organising study, voluntary work etc

    3. My biggest disappointment is when candidates don't convince me they want the job. They haven't researched the company, in many cases don't even know what the company does, the fact it's international or whatever.

    4. Positive attitude goes a very very long way and can compensate for lack of skills in other areas.

    5. Great book on job hunting is by John Yates - 101 answers to tough interview questions.

    6. concur on what previous posters have said on appearance. We know that not everyone can dress in armani but we do like to think you've made an effort. I once interviewed someone who I'm quite sure had dribbled his breakfast down his suit lapels and wiped his nose on his sleeve...

Let us know how you get on

    Cazzie
