Out of interest is there a time limit for loading on a double yellow line without any bars on the pavement.
I received a ticket the other day for it and I'm curious.
(My boss will pay the fine but if he has grounds to appeal it would be nice to tell him).

Generally 20 mins.

If you were genuinely loading/unloading, it is always worth appealing, both informally and formallly (at the NTO stage) and then to the adjudicator. Councils invariably deny appeals, but will often back down just prior to the adjudication hearing.0 -
Most traffic orders allow loading/unloading for "so long as may be necessary" although some London councils traffic orders are time specific.0

I've just found this on Southwark's (The relevant Council) website http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/473/guide_to_parking/499/loading_and_unloading/10
