Hi, my puppy who is 9 months old has picked up fleas from somewhere, she has had them about a week now in that time ive used bob martin spot on which did absoloutely nothing to them! so a few days later i decided to bath her in bob martin flea shampoo which did kill some of them i saw them floating off in the bath, but i still noticed some on her so ive bather her again a few days later and she still has the odd one running around on her. ive been going through her fur with a nit comb and killing any i find. she is husky x lab cross so her fur is quite thick and a bit longer than a lab, they seem to mainly on her belly and around her neck but since ive bather her ive only noticed them on her belly.
Ive also used bob martin flea spray for the carpets and sprayed all the carpeted areas and cleaned the wood floors and lino's with anti-bac stuff.
Clearly none of bob martin stuff is working, we were in pets at home the other day and everything seems so expensive for flea treatments! We are taking her to the vets this week as she has a urine infection which hasnt cleared up with antibiotics so we are going back, so we are going to see what the vet can suggest giving her for the fleas.
Just wondering what the best treatment is usually? the tablets/spot on/shampoo etc? and which flea treatment is best to spray on the carpets too? I want the horrid little things gone im sure ive got some bite marks on me!
Thanks

Arw, poor little thing. I'm afraid Bob Martins and Johnsons are rubbish, as with all shop bought products really. I buy Frontline from chemistdirect.co.uk, not sure if they're thee cheapest, I think you can get them cheaper on vetuk.co.uk. It's about £15 for 3 pipettes on chemistdirect for my medium sized dog, they are a liquid that goes on between his shoulder blades. I would recommend them. We also buy Drontal tablets for deworming.
I've heard Indorex Household Flea Spray is good for your home. That's on vetuk.co.uk for £9.66 at the moment (I think) http://www.vetuk.co.uk/flea-products-house-flea-sprays-c-3_419/indorex-house-flea-spray-500ml-can-p-677
It all mounts up doesn't it? Hope you get rid of them soon!0 -
Do not waste your money on the likes of bob martin and other supermarket brands - they do not work.
You need to treat the house with Indorex to eradicate the problem (there is one other but the name of it escapes me). You will need to treat every room and hoover every day as well. Available at vets, online or some pharmacies.
Treat your dog with pipettes of either Advocate/Stronghold or frontline (although some people say frontline does not necessarily work all that well depending on the resistance of the fleas). As above, these are all available at the vets or in some pharmacies or you can try shopping online
Good luck, I hope you get it sorted.0 -
As others have said Bob Martins is rubbish,I buy frontline from Bestpets pharmacy on line but shop around to find the best deal.0

I learnt the hard way with Bob Martin - Indorex is sold in Boots 10.99 - its enough to do an average 3 bed semi inc mattresses, keep hoovering as when u spray, the pupae stage between egg & flea is impervious to the spray but it'll get 'em once they hatch so the more hoovering you do the better my hubby did it every day & noticed less eggs & more dead fleas as time went on - it took about a week to stop getting bit but the good news is that the effects of the spray lasts a year so 11 quid is not too much for that amount of protection0

hiya thats great thank you, yeah i dont mind spending that kind of money if it protects for so long afterwards, she is off to the vets later on today aswell so we can see what he says and what is best for her, and see how much they are charging for the better flea stuff prob more than id find on the net lol0

I think the RRP is about £15 so probably be in that region. Good Luck.0 -
Hi, we just went to the vets and got 4 pipette's of frontline combo for just under £28 ish i know its expensive but we have got 4 months worth there and the sooner we get it on her the better so my boyfriend decided to go with this option.
I'll be getting better spray to do the house with too, so thanks for all your advice0
