building conservatory on flat roof

Has anyone built a conservatory on top of a flat roof and if so was is as straight forward as a normal build?

I would say you would need to put in a few steels to support the weight.

Planning and building regulations would most likely prevent this

ha ha - my thinking is sons bedroom window looks out onto kitchen flat roof, would building a conservatory type building on this roof and turning sons window into doorway be a) do-able and b) cheaper than brick built extension. there would be no door in the conservatory!!

Most prolly be planning issues but can't see any reason why BRs can't be accommodated off the top of me head.

I've seen quite a few of these on houses facing the sea (nice view without the wind/cold I guess), so it's definitely doable.
