Sound/Microphone Question

Hello All,
I have a Sony Viao [sp?] laptop.
Recently, i've been trying to use Skype. I can hear whoever i am talking to fine but they can't hear me. However, my laptop says something about no sound card detected when i'm on skype.
Therefore, i think i need a microphone? Do i need a sound card as well?

What model of Sony Vaio do you have? Does it have a webcam? There should be information about whether or not it has a microphone, usually built in next to the webcam at the top front surface of the lid, or perhaps below the keyboard somewhere.0

I have got a Sony Vaio VGN-NR38M it doesn't have a built in webcam.0

Are you actually using a webcam, and does it have a built-in microphone? What make and model?
Your Sony laptop has built-in speakers, which is presumably how you're hearing the person on Skype.0 -
