Thanks everyone - yesterday I went to the local duropal stockists and I love their white beech parquet or 2nd best classic white beech worktop. Gorgeous quality - wide enough to cover my wide ikea swedish units so thats the way we are going - thanks all for your help on this.

We cook A LOT (a bit of a hobby tbh).
So came to the conclusion that I am too messy in the kitchen for wood and decided to go for the Duropal Natural Bamboo.
I like the fact that I can put hot pans on the surfaces and chop veg directly without a chopping board.
